Superfund Site Remediation Support

Onondaga Lake is one of Central New York’s great natural resources. It’s also home to one of the largest environmental remediation projects in the United States. Under supervision of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Honeywell Inc. maintains a leadership role in the cleanup of industrial pollution found in the lake, located just north of the City of Syracuse. In an effort to help facilitate the active input and involvement of citizens and community organizations in the cleanup, Honeywell worked with EMA’s public relations team.

Working first for Allied Signal, then through to the present time for successor Honeywell Inc., EMA provided strategic counsel and community relations services; local and state level public affairs support; and assisted on an array of public information outreach initiatives to both build public approval for the remediation plan and to satisfy the regulators and neighbors alike.
